泰國國王拉瑪九世蒲美蓬13日辭世，蔡英文總統今天(17日)上午赴泰國經貿辦事處的追思會場致哀，並在留言簿上向泰國皇室和人民表達哀悼之意。不過，總統在留言時將泰國英文國名Thailand錯寫成了Tailand。對此，總統府下午表示，有關筆誤錯植一事，總統稍早已透過外交部向泰方說明並表達歉意，泰方也表示理解，並再次感謝總統以及台灣對泰國人民的關心。

另外，有媒體報導指府方正安排由總統率使節團前往泰國出席泰王追思活動，總統府表示，這項報導與事實不符，府方沒有這樣的規劃。
